I prefer my belt a little longer so when worn, it passes through the trouser loop. I had to change the size for this reason from 34" to 36". That is just my preference.
As for the belt, I don't know how it will fair over time but it looks very clean and buckle is bright with "clean lines". I think the belt can be cut to size (have not needed to), so if you are an in-between size, go bigger and cut down to preferred length.
