A Charles Tyrwhitt shirt is made up of 63 pieces. The greatest care and attention go into every single one, from the fine cotton fibres to the strong stitching of the buttons. All Tyrwhitt shirts have what is called a split back yoke: the top part of the back is made of two pieces, sewn together on the diagonal. Note the handsome seam down its middle. See the parallel lines of stitching that run down your shirt’s side seam. This is called twin needle stitching, and it’s there to give it extra strength. You can tug your shirt on, twist and move around in it, and send it for rounds in the washing machine for years – and thanks to the extra attention where it matters, it’s still stitched together as firmly as the day it was sewn.
